For over 20 years Roberts Fabrications have been manufacturing and installing bespoke handrail and guardrail systems, Balustrades and Security grilles to both commercial and private clients throughout Surrey, Kent and Sussex.
Guardrails, roof edge protection and barriers
Guardrails are designed to protect people from unintentionally straying into dangerous territory, be that a fall from height, wandering into traffic, or preventing them from getting too close to operating machinery.
The most popular type of guardrail is the tube and clamp system, quite often known as Kee-Clamp after one of the main manufacturers. As both the fittings and the tube are galvanised it will give many years of trouble free life either indoors or outside in the elements. The reason the system is so popular is it is relatively cheap, quick to install, very strong and yet versatile. Due to its visual appearance it is better suited for commercial applications.
Balustrades – Steel and Glass
What is the difference between a guardrail and a balustrade?
Well, not a lot really! Found lining many staircases and terraces, a balustrade is a row of small columns topped by a rail. The term is derived from the posts, called balusters, a name coined in 17th century Italy for the bulbous item’s resemblance to blossoming pomegranate flowers (balaustra in Italian).
Generally we find our clients refer to balustrading as something that will stop people falling over the edge, or through, something!
The designs of balustrades are virtually endless. From a simple ‘railing’ look, to more intricate wrought iron looking infills. We’re finding an increasing number of customers requesting glass system too now to give a much more modern feel.
Security grilles and door guards
With the increase in thefts by opportunist theives, security has unfortunately become a necessity to help protect both commercial and residential properties.
We can design and manufacture a range of bespoke security solutions, from a simple door drop bar, to intricate wrought iron window grills.
